Delta State Prepared To Move Games If Needed

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Delta State’s first home game of the football season is one week from today. But officials aren’t sure where it will be played. Tarleton State will be in town next Saturday for the home opener, but at the moment Delta State’s Parker-McCool Stadium is under construction. Problems with the artificial turf surface, installed in 2014, led to the field being declared unplayable. A decision was made to replace the turf, and work began on August 8th. The scheduled completion is still two weeks away, on September 9th. DSU director of athletics Ronnie Mayers said in a statement that the University still has hope that the firm hired to do the work, Hellas Construction, is ahead of schedule. But if the field is not ready, arrangements have been made to play the game at Cleveland Central High School.
