Delta State Hopes To Score Hole-in-One With Lease

CLEVELAND (Ben Caxton) — Two bills are currently pending in the state legislature in Jackson that would give Delta State University the authority to lease property. The University is dealing with one and a half million dollars in budget cuts over the last year. One of the ideas to make up the shortfall is to put the fifty-five acres that currently is the Derrall Foreman Golf Course to better use, by leasing the property for commercial development. The bills haven’t passed, and no decisions have been made by the University at this time. Delta State President William LaForge told the Bolivar Commercial that they are just “exploring options” at this point.
