Alex Deaton Indicted On Three Charges In Mississippi

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Rankin County grand jury has returned three charges against accused murderer Alex Deaton who led law enforcement on a nationwide manhunt last February. The 28-year-old was indicted for 1st-degree murder, auto theft, and drive-by shooting. The penalties range from 10 years to life in prison. Deaton is charged with the murder his girlfriend, 30-year-old Heather Robinson, the murder of 69-year-old Brenda Pinter, found dead in a rural Neshoba County church and aggravated assault after the shooting of a jogger in Castlewoods. Documents filed with the grand jury say Deaton went into a fit of rage after learning that Robinson was going to end their relationship. He was eventually captured after a high-speed chase and crash on I-70 in Kansas. He faces charges in both Kansas and New Mexico as well as Mississippi. His next court appearance is scheduled for June, in Kansas.
