Dates set for Second Amendment Tax Holiday

Mississippi’s first Sportsmen Weekend has been set for the late summer. The sales tax holiday has been set for September 5th to the 7th. Firearms, ammunition, hunting supplies and related accessories will be exempted from the usual state sales tax. A previous version of the bill authorizing the tax holiday would have also included ATV’s and boats, but has now been narrowed to guns and related items. Some critics say the state will not be afford the loss of revenue during the three days, while supporters say it will promote Second Amendment rights.
