Curfew in Effect in Clarksdale

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Yesterday the City of Clarksdale issued a citywide curfew which prohibits loitering on public streets, in businesses, buildings, or public places between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Essential workers, including those working in pharmacies and grocery stores, emergency and security personnel or people traveling for medical reasons are exempt from the curfew. Mayor Chuck Espy says the curfew was put into place to limit social congregation and exposure to the COVID-19 virus. It takes effect immediately and will remain in place through April 13th.
