Couple Found Dead in Mississippi River

HELENA-WEST HELENA, AR (Ben Caxton) — Two people were found dead in a car in the Mississippi River on Sunday morning, victims of an apparent murder-suicide. Helena-West Helena police and Phillips County Sheriff’s deputies recovered the vehicle from the river near the Delta Cultural Center on River Park Road after authorities received a 911 call early Sunday from a man who told the operator that he had shot his pregnant girlfriend five times and planned to kill himself. 38-year old Cornell Henry and 20-year old Cherrkisha Jones both died from gunshot wounds.
