Council splits on Festival donation

The City of Greenville will contribute 10-thousand dollars to the upcoming Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival following a split vote in the City Council. Three councilors voted in favor of the 10-thousand dollars, while two others were opposed on the grounds that the city can’t afford it. Last year, the Council donated 12,500 to the event. This year’s event is set for Saturday at the Washington County Convention Center. It is the 37th year of the Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival.
