Concerns Over Gym And Cafeteria Construction In Rosedale

ROSEDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — West Bolivar Consolidated is back grappling with new issues according to a report in the Bolivar Commercial newspaper. A fire damaged gymnasium and cafeteria at the High School is going to take a lot longer to fix than the timeline estimates the school board received one of a string of interim Superintendents hired over the summer, Charles Barron. The facilities were damaged in 2016. Inexplicably, the board had been expecting the work would be completed by November or December when the project has not even been let for bids. It now appears that the earliest the cafeteria will be available for use is July of next year at a cost of $400,000. Students meals are currently being prepared at a temporary location inside the Joe Barnes Career Technical Center. Meanwhile, the board learned the new gym will not be ready until at least Christmas of 2019.
