Cleveland Suing Company over Messed Up Water Meters

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Many Cleveland residents have been complaining about higher than normal water bills received from the city. In a statement to the Bolivar Commercial newspaper, the city said that they have “experienced major difficulties” with their water meter system and revealed that they are now involved in litigation with the companies which provide the meters and the system itself. The statement also cautioned that in some cases higher bills may be due to the fact that crews have been sent out to read some meters manually, and the increases may simply reflect a more accurate accounting of water usage.
