Cleveland School District Submits New Plan for Merger

Chicot Memorial

(Cleveland, MS)- Recently, the Cleveland School Board submitted a new plan in regards to the Cleveland School District vs. Cowan desegregation case focusing on the consolidation of the district. Several affidavits were submitted to the court on Friday, including one by Larry Hankins, transportation director for the district, and by James W. Young Jr. with a financial advisory firm. The purpose of HankinsÂ’ statement was to show the effects on bus times to the Margaret Green/Cleveland High School campus for grades seven through 12. The proposed plan by the district would assign all sixth-graders to the Walter Robinson Achievement Center rather than MGJH and D.M. Smith.
