Cleveland residents arrested in assault case

Two men and a woman have been arrested in Cleveland for a kidnapping, assault and robbery in August. Police believe the three suspects concocted a story that the victim had tried to rape the woman and that she hit him over the head with a lamp in self-defense, in order to cover up the assault. The Cleveland Police Department determined the story to false and issued arrest warrants for 31-year-old Lamarcus Matthews, 32-year-old Monek Jones and 27-year-old Devonna Hutton. They were arrested in an apartment complex on South Chrisman. All three are now in the Bolivar County Jail pending their first court appearances.
