Cleveland Doctor Sentenced To Prison

OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A former Cleveland doctor is going to jail for health care fraud. 62-year-old Dr. Nethaniel Brown was sentenced Thursday in Oxford to thirty-nine months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. He’ll also have to pay nearly $2M in restitution. Brown pled guilty in January to referring patients who were not eligible to Milestone Hospice and Sandanna Hospice resulting in Medicare payments to those two caregivers of $1,941,254.00. Brown received $47,750 in checks along with additional cash payments from one of the hospice owners in return for the fraudulent referrals.
