Cleanup Continues After Strong Weekend Storms

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Cleanup crews in several communities were busy after a powerful weekend storm rolled through the mid-south. Trees were down and power was out in Holly Springs. Almost every street in town was covered with debris but no injuries were reported. Mayor Kelvin Buck will request a disaster declaration for Holly Springs in hopes of getting state and federal assistance. Major flooding was reported in Batesville and Oxford too, and about 6000 customers were without power in eastern Arkansas where one person was hurt in Forrest City, where the storm took down trees and tore roofs off of buildings. The National Weather Service says between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell in two hours Saturday night.
