Clarksdale Water Is Still Safe to Drink

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — During yesterday’s meeting of the Clarksdale Public Utilities Commission the board approved a $3500 sponsorship request from the Sunflower River Blues Association; that’s the same amount the CPU has appropriated in each of the last three years. The board also declared Friday, July 5th as a holiday; both the city and state had previously approved both July 4th and 5th and holidays. The commission also acknowledged the 2018 consumer confidence report, which showed no violations regarding the quality of water delivered to CPU customers. Two-thirds of the way through the fiscal year CPU is reporting $12.5 million in total revenue against $13.8 million in expenses, leaving a net operating loss of $1.3 million.
