Clarksdale Utility Hires PR Firm

CLARKSDALE, MS (Paul Wilson WROX Radion) — At Tuesday’s meeting the board of Clarksdale Public Utilities unanimously approved the hiring of a Starkville-based consulting firm to assist with public relations. Local citizen groups have heavily criticized CPU this year for several items, from the suspension and termination of three executives to lacking transparency and not responding to customer complaints. The Narrative 12 Group will assist the utility with website and social media content. The board also approved moving $600,000 from reserves to the general fund. It’s the second withdrawal of reserves in the last few months, and General Manager Curtis Boschert said the transfer was necessary to cover higher-than-budgeted expenses during the last fiscal year.
