Clarksdale Utility Getting $200K/Mo Via The Web

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — At yesterday’s meeting of the Clarksdale Public Utilities board financial officer Steve Reed reported that bills totaling nearly $200,000 per month are being paid through the website. A new payment kiosk has been installed near the drive-up window and should be operational within a week or so. Customer bills now have barcodes, which is how the kiosk will access a customer’s account. The CPU board voted to renew the utility¬ís agreement with a collection attorney for another year and also approved sending accounts that are over 90 days past due to collection. The previous collection threshold was 120 days past due.
