Clarksdale Utilities Report On Harvey Repairs

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — At yesterday’s meeting of the Clarksdale Public Utilities board, general manager Mark Johnson informed the commissioners that crews worked diligently on August 31st as the remnants of Hurricane Harvey caused widespread power outages and most customers had power back on by 8 PM that day. Financial officer Steve Reed reported that over $336,000 in revenue came through either the cdpu.net website or drive-up kiosk in August as nearly 5000 customers paid their bills that way. Clarksdale Public Utilities will also host a “customer appreciation day” Friday when customers can enjoy refreshments and meet members of the staff between 1 and 3 PM in the lobby of the CPU building at Third and Leflore in downtown Clarksdale.
