Clarksdale Sports Complex Work Proceeding Slowly

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Clarksdale’s Quality of Life commission this week approved an engagement letter with Butler Snow law firm to represent the urban renewal board until bonds to pay for public infrastructure at the proposed Corey Moore Sports and Recreation Complex are issued. Developer Dwan Brown provided an update on the project, noting a $45,000 site survey is underway and construction drawings are about 30% complete. Regional and local subcontractors will be invited to an October 9th job fair to view the scope of work, and an individual job fair for construction labor will take place in November. Polls of area residents by a local radio station indicate few people believe the complex will ever be built.
