Clarksdale School District Suspends Superintendent, Teacher

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The superintendent of Coahoma County school district and a teacher have been suspended from their positions. In a front-page story this week the Clarksdale Press-Register reports that instructor Sherry Thompson and second-year superintendent Xandra Brooks-Keys were suspended by the school board this month; interim superintendent Rev. Freddie DeShazier and board president Patrick Campbell refused to comment on a personnel matter.

  1. Clarksdale seems to be leading the state in crime, firings, unrest. New police chief and now school superintendent and a teacher are fired? Somebody needs to get a handle on things in this town before it becomes the new Jackson.
