Clarksdale Residents Skeptical Sports Park Will Be Built

CLARKSDALE, MS (Paul Wilson, WROX Radio) — Lacking support from the community and the board appointed to oversee it, Clarksdale’s proposed $50 million sports park might be in trouble. Project developer Dwan Brown announced at the August 13th city board meeting that a public hearing to answer questions from the public and discuss the plan would be held this week. That meeting was canceled on Tuesday when not enough members of the “Quality of Life” urban renewal board showed up at city hall to make up a quorum. A poll about the project has been posted at for 60 days and 100% of the respondents believe the hotel, water park and baseball complex will never get built.
