Clarksdale Joins Greenwood in Going After Refunds

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The city of Clarksdale will participate in new a state program that allows local governments to seize state tax refunds and collect debts from delinquent fines. The city has over $1.8 million in unpaid fines on the books from the last five years; Coahoma County supervisors decided to participate in the program which will be administered by the Mississippi Municipal League and state department of revenue who will add a 25% collection fee.
