Clarksdale Hires – Another – New City Attorney

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The city of Clarksdale has hired a new city attorney, its third in the last five months and fifth since Mayor Chuck Espy took office in July 2017. Clarksdale lawyer Melvin Miller takes over February 15th from Bill Gresham, who replaced Margarette Meeks in November. Miller will be paid $4423 every two weeks on a 60-day interim agreement. City commissioners made the hire in executive session on February 1st with a vote that split along racial lines.
