Clarksdale Guaranteed To Have A New Mayor


CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Clarksdale will have a new mayor on July 1st as former state representative Chuck Espy defeated incumbent mayor Bill Luckett in Tuesday’s runoff. Luckett had overwhelming support four years ago. Unofficial results show him falling short by about 700 votes. It was no contest in the other runoff, as Willie Turner Jr. collected 552 votes to Orlando Bell’s 286 and won the right to represent Ward 3 on the city commission.
