Clarksdale Consumers Costing Mayor Espy Tax Money

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Clarksdale city officials will host a small business meeting on January 24th for retailers and small business owners to discuss what the city can do to help support small businesses. At Monday’s meeting of the Clarksdale city board, city clerk Cathy Clark noted that sales tax receipts for the current fiscal year are nearly $50,000 under budget and Mayor Chuck Espy noted that online or out-of-area purchases have contributed to that shortfall.
