City Order Ends With Closure Of Greenville Church

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenville Church has closed its doors permanently after the city ordered it to vacate the building it has called home for the last seven years. Grace Tabernacle Covenant Church has been operating out of an old theater complex near the intersection of Highways 1 and 82 in Greenville. Earlier this year the church converted part of the structure into a homeless shelter which until last month housed as many as several dozen men. But in mid-August, the Greenville City Council found that the building was not in compliance with city ordinance codes and ordered the building be vacated. The Church has been serving the Greenville community since 2010.
