City Library Repairs Deem an Emergency Priority in Greenville

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Greenville City library needs a new roof. The William Percy Memorial Library’s roof was damaged in a severe hailstorm last month, and the city has so far made no progress in making repairs. Now ceiling tiles have begun dropping from the weight of the water inside the library, with rows of bookshelves covered in plastic tarps and buckets to catch the falling water scattered throughout. While declaring the problem an emergency the city still has not settled a claim with the insurance company – the necessary first step before bids can even be let to find a contractor to replace the roof.
