City Council drops water bill fee

Chicot Memorial

The Greenville City Council is backing off from a plan to tack on a two dollar mosquito abatement fee on to water bills. That story from Ann Kenda. After questions arose about the legality of mosquito abatement fee, City Councilors decided not to go ahead with the plan. Previous estimates said the fee would have generated more than 300-thousand dollars to help cover a deficit in the city’s 2013 – 2014 fiscal year budget. The fee is now on hold indefinitely.
