Choctaw Indians Vote Down New Casino

CHOCTAW, MS (Ben Caxton) — There will not be a new Choctaw Indian Casino in Mississippi. Members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians voted this week and preliminary results show 1449 votes against and 654 votes in favor with 112 absentee votes still. Chief Phyliss Anderson said in a statement that she respects the decision of the Tribe. The Casino could conceivably still be built without approval if is determined that less than 40 percent of registered voters participated.
