Child Beating Death Sends Mom & Boyfriend to Jail

NATCHEZ, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Natchez woman and her boyfriend are in jail after the woman’s 4-year-old daughter died and her 3-year-old daughter was hospitalized with injuries consistent with what were described as “severe beatings”. At a press conference, Friday Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said 25-year-old Lakeisha Marie Jones of Natchez left her children with 24-year-old James Christopher Anderson while she worked Tuesday night. Anderson allegedly beat the toddlers and then walked them 1/4 mile to his mother’s apartment. The police report says one of the girls was so badly injured from the beatings she repeatedly fell during the short walk. 4-year-old Armani Hill died Wednesday at a hospital in Natchez, and her 3-year-old sister whose name has not been released is hospitalized in Jackson. An autopsy showed Armani died from blunt force trauma. Investigators said Jones knew Anderson was abusing her children and did nothing to stop him. Police say the abuse had gone on for quite some time. State social workers had twice previously investigated the family because of injuries to the children, but they were never removed from the home.
