Chase Ends in Attempted Murder, Kidnapping & Arson Charges

OLIVE BRANCH, MS (Ben Caxton) — Authorities say a man set his girlfriend on fire, kidnapped her three-year-old niece and led officers on a chase across state lines before being arrested Tuesday in Olive Branch. About the same time that a woman showed up at a Mississippi hospital with second- and third-degree burns, 42-year-old Jeremy Manning approached a Memphis officer and said he would kill the child in his car if he couldn’t use a phone. He then drove away and police gave chase. Two officers were injured when Manning rammed a patrol car during the chase. He was arrested in Olive Branch after abandoning his vehicle. The child was not seriously injured. Manning is charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, kidnapping, child endangerment and arson with a total bond set at $1.3 million.

  1. Good job. I hope he gets the help he needs and stays away from society. Praying for the family.
