Carroll County Busts Moonshine Operation

CARROLL COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A 68-year-old Carroll County man was arrested for making moonshine Thursday. Authorities say several months of investigation by agents of the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control division of the state Department of Revenue and Carroll County deputies culminated in a raid on the residence of Jimmie Alexander on Mississippi Highway 35, and a barn on County Road 87 in Vaiden. 240 gallons of fermenting corn mash, 16-1/2 gallons of moonshine, and an eight-barrel still with a 50-gallon cooker were confiscated in the raid and later destroyed. Alexander was found working at the still when agents arrived and arrested, He is charged with felony possession of illegal distilling equipment and possession of moonshine.
