Candidates contesting election results

Two candidates whose names appeared on November 6th general election ballot in Washington County are contesting the results. Yolanda Wheatley is contesting the race for the Leland School Board, in which elections officials said she received 181 votes out of 553, with Brandon Keith Taylor receiving 372. In the race for District 2 Election Commissioner, Tonya Powell is challenging the election results which gave her 1,638 votes out of the 3,313 ballots cast, while her opponent, incumbent Jan Brown, received 1,684. Elections officials said the candidates did not offer specific reasons why they are challenging the results.
