Brief E-Coli Water Scare In Yazoo City

YAZOO CITY, MS (Ben Caxton) — Two bad water samples led to water scare in Yazoo City over the weekend. Routine test results received Thursday indicated the presence of E. Coli and coliform. The city issued a boil water noticed, which was rescinded about 24 hours later after new test results came back clean. Yazoo City Public Service Commission Manager Jimmy Wever told WLBT-TV that the contamination was found in two of 10 routine samples saying that while the cause has not been determined they suspect a water line repair made on the north side of town could have been the source of the problem. Yazoo City officials said it was the first citywide boil water notice in more than 30 years. About 11,500 customers were affected.
