BREAKING: Friday Night Homicide In Greenville

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — An unidentified 22-year-old black male was killed Friday night in a shooting in Greenville at Lucky’s Quickstop in the 1800 block of East Alexander. Police responded to the call at 9:21 PM and found the victim, who appeared to have been shot multiple times, inside a silver Ford passenger car. He was transported to Delta Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. Investigators of the Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were dispatched and began to investigate the incident. Authorities say that the preliminary investigation suggests the victim was not the intended target of the shooter who may have mistaken him for someone else involved in another altercation. Arrested and charged with murder on Saturday was 25-year-old Nicholas Barnes who is being held pending arraignment. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members. UPDATED AT 2:00 PM FOR NAME OF SUSPECT ARRESTED.
