UPDATE: 2 Toddlers, Adult, Dead in Cleveland Accident

PACE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A two vehicle accident last night outside of Cleveland near Pace has left two toddlers and one adult dead. Officials say that several others were taken to the hospital. Several helicopters were flown in to assist emergency officials that were on scene. The Mississippi Highway is handling the investigation. UPDATE 10:25 AM  According to Sgt. Ronald Shive, Public Affairs Division, Troop D:

“at approximately 5:45 pm on the 3rd of January, troopers responded to a 2 vehicle accident that claimed the life of 2 from Rosedale. Troopers were dispatched to MS 8 and 4th street in the town of Pace.  Upon arrival, it was apparent that James Robinson,71, of Pace was westbound in his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe.  Robinson was attempting to make a left turn and travel south on 4th street. Lasheba Mathews,31, of Rosedale was traveling eastbound on MS 8 in her 2003 Ford Mustang. As Robinson attempted to turn, Mathews collided with Robinson in the eastbound lane of 8. Karleasha Miller and Lavette Wade both of Pace were passengers in Robinson’s vehicle that sustained serious injuries.  Both were airlifted to Memphis. Lasheba Mathews was also airlifted to Memphis with serious injuries.  Mathews had four other occupants in the vehicle, 2 of which were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. A third occupant was airlifted to Jackson with serious injuries, while a fourth was taken to Bolivar Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.  The names of the occupants will not be released due to their ages.”

The accident remains under investigation and details may change as conflicting reports are verified. Delta Daily News will update the information as details become available.

    Sending out prayers to the family. My 9 year old great nephew was one of the children that life was taken. I pray for peace that passes all understanding!

  3. To my cousins and to the family who lost their family members. My wife and I send our condolences, sympathy and prayers. In a time like this we want to give all involved comfort from the scriptures. We hope that the words of Acts 24:15 and John 5:28,29. Both gives us hope for the resurrection of our loved ones.     Prayers going out to the family during this very difficult time. So sorry for your loss. We pray Lasheba recovers quickly from this, and she will be in our thoughts as she moves forward from this.
