Bond For Accused Smiley Murderer Set At $2,000,000


GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Accused murderer Leonard Stevenson Jr. made an appearance in court in Greenville Monday afternoon. In the hearing Municipal Court Judge Bennie Richard set Stevenson’s at $2,000,000. That’s $1 million each for the murder charges pending against him in the stabbing deaths of Billy Smiley Sr. and Ronnie Tubbs. On February 6th Greenville Police responded to a call on the 1200 block of Garden Drive. At the scene, they found Billy Smiley, Sr. in the front yard of his residence with multiple stab wounds. That same night Ronnie Tubbs was found stabbed to death by officers in the 200 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Smiley was first taken to Delta Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to Jackson where he later died from his wounds.
