GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — As the 40th Anniversary Mississippi Delta Blues & Heritage Festival gets underway this weekend in Greenville, festival organizers are being sued for failure to pay charges in connection with advertising from last year’s show. Delta Radio Network has filed suit against Mississippi Action for Community Education, MACE, and its President & CEO Mabel Starks, for failure to pay bills from the 2016 festival. Delta Radio President Larry Fuss told Delta Daily news that for the past year MACE has refused to respond to demands that it pay its bills “After repeated attempts to get paid, we finally had to resort to filing suit,” Fuss said that like any business, Delta Radio’s employees expect to be paid for their work. “We sell advertising in order to generate revenue to pay our payroll and our operating expenses, but some people think they can just avoid paying us and we’ll forget about it.” The suit, which was filed in Bolivar County Justice Court, is set for trial on October 10.
