Blowtorch Bandits on the Loose in Leland

LELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Leland Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a pair of “Blowtorch Bandits”. Authorities say the two men have been responsible for a series of home and auto break-ins over the last two weeks, including a Sunday night, attempted ATM theft at Regions Bank using a welding torch. Surveillance video posted to the Department’s Facebook page from one victim’s home security cameras shows one of the men stealing the blowtorch used in the aborted bank heist as he looks toward the camera. Assistant police chief Marcus Davis described the suspects as black males wearing hoodies. One of the men has a larger build while the other male has a smaller frame and is thin and tall.
