Bill Passed to Increase ID Requirements for Medicaid

(Jackson, MS) — The Mississippi House passed a bill Friday that would increase the amount of personal income and identify details Medicaid recipients must report before qualifying for the health coverage. Legislators voted 76-40 in favor of the bill without reading or discussing it. House Bill 1116 would require state officials to build a computerized system to keep records of Medicaid recipients. Recipients would have to prove their identity matches the computer records every three months. The bill will move to Senate for debate.
