Belzoni Man Now Facing Auto Theft Charges

BELZONI, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Belzoni man arrested Sunday on charges of trying to elude a Vicksburg police officer, now faces charges of auto theft in Humphries County. 19-year-old Willie Tristin Rodgers was accused of felony eluding after trying to avoid a Vicksburg Police Officer who was attempting to stop him for speeding. While Rodgers was being held in the Warren County Jail police discovered that the car he was driving had been reported stolen from Yazoo County. The Humphreys County Sheriff’s office sent a warrant for his arrest and is waiting to be taken back to Humphreys County. Vicksburg police recovered another stolen car this week as well, this one abandoned. A 2017 Nissan Altima reported stolen in Jackson was discovered Tuesday behind the former Vicksburg-Warren County Health Clinic on Oak Street.
