Batesville Cops Arresting Random Shooters

BATESVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Batesville Police are cracking down on random gunshots being fired inside the city limits. Dennie Henderson was arrested Saturday; he is accused of discharging a firearm into the air. Henderson said he had fired the gun to scare unruly children in the neighborhood. Batesville police chief Jimmy McCloud says bullets shot into the air come down and are a danger to everyone in the area, adding there is no reason under normal circumstances for anyone to discharge a weapon inside the city limits. Batesville cops have also investigated several vehicle burglaries where thieves stole items from unlocked cars and trucks.
