Authorities Capture One Of Two Parchman Escapees

PARCHMAN, MS (Ben Caxton) — Police have captured one of two inmates who escaped from the Parchman State Penitentiary late Sunday or early Monday. 41-year-old inmate James R. Sanders is now in custody, while 22-year-old Ryan Young, who fled with him, is still at large. Sanders is serving life for homicide-murder. He was sentenced in July of 2000 in Lafayette County. Details of his capture have not been released. Young is serving 40 years for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a residence, grand larceny, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon in Claiborne County. He is a black male with brown eyes, standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 193 pounds. He is considered armed, and dangerous. How the two men escaped Unit 30 is part of an ongoing investigation.
