"Armed Intruders" Visiting Monticello Schools Today

MONTICELLO, AR (Ben Caxton) — Monticello schools will be getting a visit from “armed intruders” today. All staff and students will be participating in a drill to test the Monticello School District’s emergency procedures. As part of the test simulation, an actor will play the part of an armed intruder at one of the school campuses. Using the “911 Panic Button” other schools will be notified of the location of the intruder and all schools will be placed on “lockdown”. The drills, which are required by Arkansas state law, are being conducted with the help of local and state law enforcement, Drew County Memorial Hospital, and the Drew County Office of Emergency Management.
