Arkansas Votes Increased Education For NCAA Officials

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — Arkansas has voted to urge more training for NCAA basketball officials. By a voice vote yesterday the Arkansas Senate passed a resolution “encouraging better education of NCAA basketball officials.” The resolution sponsored by Senator Keith Ingram, a West Memphis Democrat claims that the University of Arkansas men’s basketball team “was the victim of a devastating and grievous loss in the NCAA Tournament that left fans trying to find the strength to carry on, children crying, grown men weeping, cows unable to produce milk, chickens ceasing to lay eggs, and lambs lying with lions.” The loss was aided and abetted by a poor call by an official, according to the resolution, which urges that video of the play and the call be made mandatory viewing for current and future NCAA officials “so that no other school should suffer and endure such a cruel and undeserved fate at the hands and whistle of a pinhead dressed in stripes.”
