WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — Personal-finance website WalletHub has released a report on 2018’s Best & Worst States to drive in. To determine the most driver-friendly states WalletHub looked at 23 categories including average gas prices, rush-hour traffic congestion, and road quality. Texas ranked first overall and our neighbor Arkansas made the top ten at number 9. Mississippi was number 29 but has the lowest share of rush-hour traffic congestion, at just 13 percent. That’s 6-1/2 times lower than in California, the state with the highest at 85 percent. Traffic congestion costs the average driver $1400 per year and the U.S. ranks 13th in the world in road quality.
