Arkansas Flag Star Will Remain a Confederate Star

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — A proposal to strip the Confederate designation from one of the stars on Arkansas’ flag and have it represent the contributions of Native Americans instead has been rejected. This week the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee rejected the proposal; Arkansas’ state flag would not have changed but would have deleted language from a law that says the blue star above the state’s name on the flag commemorates the Confederate States of America. Two years ago the state removed Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the state holiday honoring Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
