Arkansas County First in the State to Go Solar

PHILLIPS COUNTY, AR (Ben Caxton) — Phillips County is the first county in Arkansas to go solar, expecting solar energy technology will save taxpayers money. Phillips County is building a solar farm as part of its new criminal justice complex hoping to save about $50,000 a year. Eventually, there will be a three-acre solar farm in a 10-acre field across from the Helena Regional Medical Center, allowing the county to provide electricity to the utility company and get a rebate on their bill. The solar farm should be up and running this fall.
