Arkansas Closer to Legal Medical Marijuana

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — Two years after voters approved legalization of medical marijuana a state panel on Wednesday released a list of 32 companies that will be given licenses to sell the substance. The state had received two hundred applications in all and paid an outside consultant to rate each application to make their decision. The selected companies will be required to maintain a $100,000 performance bond and pay a $15,000 license fee before receiving their license to sell marijuana. Patients waiting to purchase the drug though are still facing a wait. Five marijuana growers were approved last year, but the growers don’t expect to have any product available to provide to the sellers for at least three to six months.
