Arkansas a Bad Place to Be a Cop

Chicot Memorial

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — A new study from Wallet Hub says Arkansas is the worst state in which to be a police officer. The study looked at factors including job hazards and protection, quality of life, officers per capita, the average starting salary and median income for officers and the potential for salary growth. Only Hawaii and South Carolina had lower median incomes for law enforcement. Arkansas was dead last but other southern states were also near the bottom with Louisiana 50th and Tennessee 43rd. Mississippi was number 32 overall. In addition to being ranked number one overall, North Dakota was first in the percentage of solved homicide cases.
