Are You Essential or Not? Find out at 5:00 PM Today.

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi’s statewide stay-at-home order takes effect from 5 PM today until 8 AM Monday, April 20th. Residents can only leave home to perform essential activities like caring for someone in the vulnerable population, getting food or necessary supplies and working for an essential business. Government services including the mail, public safety, and first responders are considered essential as are healthcare, utilities, manufacturing including food and medical products, agriculture, media and financial services like banks. Supermarkets, pharmacies, and gas stations are also considered essential businesses but restaurants can only open for drive-thru, curbside and or delivery service. All non-essential businesses are ordered to stop activities other than those needed for minimum operations like payroll, health insurance, and security and enabling employees to work from home. Social and other non-essential gatherings in groups of more than 10 people must be canceled or rescheduled, and evictions are suspended although people are still required to make mortgage payments and pay rent.
